This is very encouraging news ! I applaud Utah for teaching the rest of the country that fair is fair. I wish we could get something like this going here in Texas. It appears we wrote the book on gerrymandering here.
I appreciate this article and the description of Bright America's intended role in promoting this strategy and outcome nationwide. I have a suggestion for another lawsuit that was significant and fair but received no national attention. Last decade, Food Not Bombs Fort Lauderdale sued the City of Fort Lauderdale for unlawful arrests for serving free food in public. The 11th Circuit Court decided TWICE in FNB's favor. Of note, if I understand the second ruling correctly, the Court determined that not only was the City at fault, it also held accountable the individual police officer for the illegal arrest. If this is correct, and were well know, this would end police brutality, which is rampant in this country. I thought it might be something to look into.
363429. Uh Oh, Austin, please don't show a super highway so close to those delicate arches in Utah. That rendition is not real and tends to desecrate the beauty and peace of those locales. Only local, unobtrusive roads and foot trails approach thee arches.
Thank you for publishing that. The really scary thing to me is the absolute refusal of the Utah legislature to listen to their own constituents... it seems to happen everywhere, in every legislature, whether is controlled by R's or D's...
We tried to do it here in VA and the dem controlled legislature watered it down here..
What politicians will do to draw districts that guarantee them a majority is totally unethical.
We need a totally non partisan group to manage re-districting after census results every ten years, and then only...

Of course... It's just for the "guardrail" effect.

Nah, that makes too much sense!
