The amount of open corruption of this administration is mind boggling, as is the unforgivable inaction of the Republicans in Congress. Where is their conscience??? I hope there will be accountability after the midterms!
There is no accountability because they most likely all have a finger in the pie. I don't know what they think they will get out of kissing Trump's ass, but I guess they are expecting something. Right now, I want to see all who are up for re-election kicked out.
I don't find Trump's money grab as surprising as I believe he gathered his initial family immediately after winning in 2024 and told them we have 4 years to become the richest family in the world. They're off and running with no concerns about the taxpayer.
The "President of the United States", his cabinet, his handlers and his many lackeys are looting as much money as they can wring from this country and all the people in it. In effect, many people are stealing from each other to provide the entire Trump family, MAGA loyalists and Russ Vought's devotees with endless power and wealth. How have we not yet progressed beyond submitting to this kind of greed and callousness? Some of us saw it coming, fought as hard as we could, and must now watch helplessly as the apocalypse unfolds. We need to find a way to fight the destruction of the United States as a country with some kind of dignity and decency!!
I thought that the question was: "Do you [I} think the Department of Justice should be allowed to settle a lawsuit with the President in secret?" How can there be more than one answer to this question? It can only be answered in the negative. Though presumably, wouldn't such a "settlement" need to be approved by the judge? Who might that be?
A third-party contractor working for the IRS leaked the President's tax returns, revealing he was using various strategies to not pay any income tax. The leak was illegal. If the government were actually trying to fight the case, the obvious defense is that the firm who provided the contractor is liable for damages, not the government. But the President doesn't control the contracting firm, and the contracting firm doesn't have $10B......
How could a judge adjudicate an issue between a plaintiff who one part of the government -- presumably, its chief executive officer -- and a defendant which is another part of the government, which is in many respects subordinate to the first? Seems to me, there ought to be an identity of interest. Their respective loyalties and legal obligations must be only be to the Constitution.

The entire Trump family needs to be prosecuted and every dime they have stolen confiscated and returned to the treasury.
"Do I believe..."? of course not! 🤬

What is the reason for the lawsuit?

This is all happening at a stage of litigation before a judge even gets involved. If it got to the judge, it would almost certainly be thrown out.
