This reminds me of the Big Beautiful Bill. Trump/GOP passes things that do a terrible disservice to Americans! But no one understands the consequences because they are sold as "good for our welfare" propaganda. Sycophants buy it lock, stock, and barrel, thinking they can bypass reading the details. I hope it backfires on them before the elections so all voters will know what they are REALLY voting for when the time comes!

Save us FROM the SAVE Act!!!

I almost wish the Save Act would pass because of the ultimate backlash that its proponents would experience from the practical blowback that would ensue. In my mind, this is our chaos president rending our fragile democracy further asunder. Whether it passes or not, in his non linear brain, he wins because he can say "told you so when the majorities in the Senate and House are swept aside in the mid-terms.".....this "told you so" will also be followed by claims of election fraud and that he, the impetuous child Donald ,is the only person who can save us.

The writer is out to scare us all. In WA State my associates 16-year-old children both received ballots in the mail after obtaining their first driver's license. It appears WA is an "opt out" state where your automatically registered if you get a license and have a residence. I believe in requiring some proof of citizenship. FEAR should never become a policy of good governance or compliance with laws. If the people of the USA want anyone in the world to vote in our elections just change the law. If not, then abide by the law and require some proof of citizenship. Surprisingly (to tis writer) most women who marry or divorce have no problems navigating the name change for bank accounts, driver's licenses, credit cards etc. This is a fear mongering bit of writing to protect unlawful voting. Thanks for reading.

We don't operate on fear, we operate on facts. Your example of 16 year olds getting ballots in WA, however, is a an oft-spread piece of disinformation designed to instill FEAR that the state is incapable of preventing OR purposefully encouraging illegal voting. It's been debunked over and over.

It is true that Washington state allows "pre-registration" starting at 16, which is linked to the Department of Licensing (DOL). However, pre-registrants are not added to the active voter rolls and do not receive ballots until they turn 18 (or sometimes a few weeks before, if they will be 18 by Election Day).
