Welll, you are absolutely correct, but you forgot that COVID was a large driver of inflation during Biden’s term. That is a once in a century situation that proved costly in lives and prices. And both sides may have had an impact, bur republicans were bty far the main driver of crushing the poor, working class, and middle class in favor of the wealthy.

Dems fight for more access to Medicaid, SNAP, job training, reducing college costs through loan forgiveness, encouraging less expensive and planet protecting renewable energy – you can charge an electric car in FL for $38 a month. Dems also protected and encouraged unions that offer higher pay, dem states have much higher minimum wages than GOP states. Rent and housing are expensive, but much of that can be blamed on corporations buying properties and jacking up prices to try and satisfy their insatiable addiction for more money.

What party protects civil rights, women’s rights, voting rights, healthcare rights, labor rights and human rights? It sure isn’t republicans, unless you want to buy a thousand guns, since all they protect is gun rights to the extreme.

I am sure states like South Dakota and Arkansas might be less costly to live in, but then you are saddled with fewer medical options, abortion restrictions, gender restrictions, fewer hospitals, good paying jobs, and higher crime and murder rates. Your chances of getting murdered in AR are are more than twice as high as NY. ‘In 2023, Arkansas had a murder rate of approximately 9.4 per 100,000 residents, while New York's rate was about 4.5 per 100,000 residents..’

And when it comes to the wealthy, they just want more and more. Tax rates for the wealthy have fallen dramatically over the past 40 years while taxes on the middle class remain constant. With the wealthy paying significantly less in taxes, there is less to go around to those who truly need it. When was the last time republicans fought to help veterans improve their lives> Never. In fact, this Big Billionaire’s Bill of trump will slash veteran’s benefits and close hospitals. Trump has already ended the veteran’s suicide hotline because it cost too much and he needed to cut costs to feed his wealthy friends and his own fat face.

Please don’t fall for the CNN, corporate media both sides nonsense. America’s problems rest solely on the shoulders of republicans. The quality of life scores show that 9 of the 10 worst quality of life states are run by republicans. Ironically, OK voted in all counties for trump and has one of the worst quality of life score sin the nation. MA voted for Harris in all counties and has one of the highest quality of life score in the country. The more someone votes republican, the worse they want their lives to be. Dems are not perfect, butthey have a better record of helping those in need than republicans who toss the vulnerable into the streets and don’t give a damn.

It is not "both sides" to say that both parties have contributed to higher costs (many of the regulations put in place by Democrats, even if for thoughtful reasons, increase prices, too).

And of course you're correct that COVID was a once in a century event that caused inflation -- but Democrats were afraid to talk about it, and many Americans (who may not understand what "inflation is going down" actually means) felt gaslit rather than hearing Democrats speaking to the reality they were experiencing. Yes, high inflation hurt Democrats, but I think what hurt many campaigns (including the Biden and Harris campaigns I was a part of) was that they wanted to talk about anything else.. and too many Americans cared only about that. We talked more about democracy than the cost of living crisis, and lost -- which is the entire point I'm trying to make in this post.

I appreciate your sentiments and realize dems are horrible messengers, since they lost an election with the country being in near boom times and having the best economy in the world. Dems are so dim they can’t sell success. Wages were higher than inflation! But no one mentioned a word about it. Instead anincompentent, lying, felon talked about the quaint word ‘groceries’ and that the price of eggs were high (bird flu be damned) and wins! The voter will have some serios second thoughts soon enough, as prices continue to rise from all the trump stupidity. When the price of eggs caused by bird flu is more omportant than democracy, America is in deeper touble than most want to admit.

This is the calm before the storm. People vote against their best interests all the time and then wonder why they continue to struggle. They ain’t seen nothing yet. Thanks for your work with the campaign. I wish it had worked out differently. America would have been a shining star and not a black hole.

You are right...though the destruction of our democracy over expensive eggs? It's tragic - in 2024, a majority of Americans chose their (perceived) economic self-interest over the very basic good of democracy. What would the Founding Fathers say, individuals who pledged "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor" to winning freedom? Sadly, I agree with Jonathan Last's assessment in the Bulwark: "No empire can survive the degeneration of its people" - in other words, so long as the price of eggs matters more than the Constitution, our country is in trouble. Maybe that will change. But until then, we must keep up the fight for the minority - for the rights and freedoms of the 48 (or so) percent who still believe that democracy, freedom, and some fundamental, moral principles are worth more than a cheaper omelet.

Agreed. And additionally, so many Americans are just bigoted, misogynistic(all those Joe Rogan fan boys), and just ignorant of how government works, how the billionaires control messaging. In other words, Americans got the best government money can buy.

Most people are not paying any attention. They aren't listening to Joe Rogan, they aren't reading Substack (much less their local news or newspaper). The people who put Trump over the top were worried most about the economy, and he said what they were feeling about it, while Democratic campaigns talked about issues that weren't front-and-center for those not paying attention to anything outside their family's struggles.

Yes I agree. Perception of the economic impact and the timeline of recovery from the Covid disaster was a major factor in voters turning against Biden/Harris. They didn’t see the direct impact quickly enough. Despite clear evidence that the Biden administration policies were starting to work, and given time would implement a more robust economy, voters chose a felon who lies continuously to believe “I alone can fix it “. And thus my point about TACO supporters being bigots at best , and ignorant about how our government works and how all the different departments actually were established for the common good, idealistically. When a core base of voters are persistently brainwashed and lied to 24/7 for decades by right wing media, distrust of our institutions and our form of governance is tested. And then the fact that those same voters totally ignore the reality that the person they installed in office is a serial liar, sexual assaulter, business fraudster, felon, etc., and voila! We have a criminal enterprise masquerading as a government.
